Today’s Bible Verse:
Psalm 4:8 ESV

In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.

This verse is a simple, quiet assurance. Finding true rest and peace can seem out of reach in our busy world. We worry about our future, relationships, work, and the needs of those we care about. But here, in Psalm 4:8, we find a declaration of trust in God’s faithful protection. David, the psalmist, can lie down in peace, not because of his strength or his control over his circumstances but because he knows God is his true source of safety.

In Martin Luther’s teachings, peace with God was central. He emphasized that our peace doesn’t come from within us but is a gift from God, grounded in faith. God has given us forgiveness, life, and salvation through Christ—gifts the world cannot take away. When Lutherans confess faith in Jesus, we acknowledge that He alone can quiet our hearts and carry us through every trial.

A Prayer for Today:

Heavenly Father, thank You for being my refuge and strength. Help me to surrender my anxieties to You, trusting that You alone keep me safe. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Apostles’ Creed:
