How Great Thou Art!

Today’s Bible Verse:
Jeremiah 10:6
ESV

There is none like you, O Lord;
you are great, and your name is great in might.

In our day-to-day lives, we often try to control circumstances or find security in temporary things. It might be our careers, our families, or the comfort of familiar routines. But Jeremiah 10:6 reminds us of something powerful and profound: no one and nothing is like our God.

Jeremiah was surrounded by people who looked to idols and false gods, seeking protection, prosperity, and identity. Yet, in this verse, he declares with conviction that God alone is great, and His name alone holds power. His words remind us to lift our eyes from earthly dependencies and place our trust in the one true God, whose strength is unmatched and whose love is unbreakable.

We find comfort in knowing that God’s greatness doesn’t depend on anything we do; His majesty and might are rooted in His eternal nature. And because of Christ’s work on the cross, we don’t approach God in fear but with the assurance that we are His beloved children, secure in His power and grace.

Today, remember that our hope rests not in the world’s fleeting promises but in the Lord, who is "mighty in power." Take a moment to praise God for His greatness and reflect on how His strength is at work in your life, especially in areas where you feel weak or uncertain. Surrender those places to Him, trusting that there is none like our God.

Prayers

A Prayer for Today:

Gracious Father, You alone are mighty, and there is none like You. Thank You for Your steadfast love and the power of Your name, which is above every other. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Luther’s Morning Prayer:

I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have kept me this night from all harm and danger; and I pray that You would keep me this day also from sin and every evil, that all my doings and life may please You. For into Your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen.

Apostles’ Creed:

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth.

And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer:

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven; give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.
