God Holding Our Hands

Today’s Bible Verse:
Isaiah 41:13
ESV

For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the one who helps you.”

When you are at a cancer center as many times as I am, the challenge of staying hopeful is difficult. Today, we’re looking at Isaiah 41:13, a bible verse that offers a profound message of divine reassurance: “For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, ‘Fear not, I am the one who helps you.’”

The prophet Isaiah conveys a powerful image of God's intimate connection with His people. Holding one's right hand signifies a gesture of support, guidance, and protection. It is an assurance that we are not alone in our struggles; rather, God walks beside us every step of the way.

"Fear not" speaks directly to the anxieties and uncertainties that often plague our lives. Whether we face challenges in personal relationships, health concerns, financial difficulties, or spiritual doubts, God reminds us that we need not be afraid. He is our source of strength and courage and will empower us to overcome any obstacle.

God's promise to help us further underscores His unwavering commitment to our well-being. He is not a distant deity who observes our struggles from afar but actively intervenes on our behalf. He provides us the wisdom, resources, and opportunities to navigate life's complexities.

As Lutherans, we believe that God's promises in Isaiah 41:13 are fulfilled in the person of Jesus Christ. Through His life, death, and resurrection, Jesus demonstrates God's unwavering love and compassion for humanity. He invites us to trust in Him and rely on His grace to sustain us in every circumstance.

In times of difficulty, let us remember God's comforting words in Isaiah 41:13. Let us turn to Him in prayer, seeking His guidance and strength. And let us trust that He will hold our right hand, leading us through the challenges we face and bringing us to a place of peace and hope.

PRAYERS

Keep in Your Prayers:

  1. All people dealing with cancer

  2. Those who reject Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

A Prayer for Today:

Compassionate Father, I thank You for Your promise to hold our right hand and help us in times of need. I pray that You will fill me with Your peace and courage, enabling us to face life's challenges confidently. Help me to trust in Your unwavering love and to rely on Your grace to sustain me. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.

Luther’s Morning Prayer:

I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have kept me this night from all harm and danger; and I pray that You would keep me this day also from sin and every evil, that all my doings and life may please You. For into Your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen.

Apostles’ Creed:

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth.

And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer:

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven; give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.
