Jesus, The Word Made Flesh to Save
Today’s Bible Verse:
John 1:1 ESV
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
If you’ve never guessed, Saint John’s Gospel is my favorite gospel in the bible. It opens with a profound declaration that resonates with the heart of Lutheran theology. It points us to the eternal nature of Jesus Christ, the Word made flesh. This verse establishes Christ's divinity, emphasizing His preexistence and intimate relationship with God the Father.
Lutherans believe in the Trinity – God as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. John 1:1 underscores the divine nature of Jesus, the Son. He is not merely a prophet or a wise teacher; He is God Himself, eternally present with the Father. This verse also highlights the power of God's Word. Jesus, the Word, is the source of creation and the means through which God reveals Himself to us. We know God's love, grace, and salvation through His Word.
In our daily lives, let us remember the profound truth of John 1:1. Jesus, the Word made flesh, is our Savior and Lord. Through faith in Him, we receive forgiveness of sins and eternal life.

Loving Father, thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus Christ, the Word made flesh. Help me and all believers to trust in His saving work and to live our lives following Your Word. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer:
