Standing Firm. Be Strong.

Today’s Bible Verses:
1 Corinthians 16:13-14
ESV

Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love.

I don’t know about you, but I want to smash my head against the wall when I watch the news nowadays. The old TV news adage “If it bleeds, it leads” is getting to me. Crime. War. Every bad thing you can think of seems to lead our newscasts, and I’m tired of it. Wouldn’t it be nice—just once—to turn on the news and see something good come on first? We see the troublesome news and wonder if God is looking down from heaven. Why doesn’t He do something to stop it? Saint Paul reminds us today in today’s verses from his first letter to the Corinthians about being watchful while standing firm in your faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. Trust Him always and act like He would want you to act toward others. God Himself is at the core of our lives in this broken world and serving others around us. Living and acting in Godly love is important, especially when the world breaks down. Today, be courageous and strong in your faith! Let your faith be like that mustard seed Jesus tells us about.

PRAYERS

Keep in Your Prayers:

  1. Those struggling to make ends meet.

  2. All people dealing with cancer

  3. Those who reject Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

A Prayer for Today:

I thank you, heavenly Father, for science and all that it has done to make our world a better place to live. Continue to bless us with advances in the science field. In Jesus’ name, I pray.. Amen.

Luther’s Morning Prayer:

I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have kept me this night from all harm and danger; and I pray that You would keep me this day also from sin and every evil, that all my doings and life may please You. For into Your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen.

Apostles’ Creed:

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth.

And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer:

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven; give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.
